Turkey has sold “SOM-B1” missiles produced by the Turkish “Roketsan” military-industrial company to Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan will be the second to use those newly created missiles after Turkey. They were demonstrated at the military parade in Baku on June 26, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Azerbaijani army.
So far, these missiles can only be installed on Russian “MIG-29” military planes used by Azerbaijan’s air force. Works are being carried out to install these missiles on “Su-25” and “F-16” military planes. Each of these missiles weighs 600 kg and the targeting range is 250 km.
Let us remind that Chief of General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, Army General Hulusi Akar, Minister of Defense Nuretti Janikli and Turkish Parliament Speaker Ismail Kahraman were invited to take part in the parade.
Some of the units of Turkish Land Forces, as well as “Soloturk” and “Türk Yıldızları” aviation groups belonging to the country’s air force, took part in the parade.
