“Zhoghovurd” daily tried to find out from the Republican Party whether the party qualifies these events as a vendetta or has another viewpoint over it. Gagik Minasyan, a Republican Party MP noted: “Many events are taking place now. It is possible to express a final opinion only when the relevant actions of law enforcement officials are over”.
Republican Party Spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov said: “The National Security Service and other law enforcement agencies should be given the opportunity to exercise their powers, but the presumption of innocence should also be respected. There must be a violation of the law so that I can give a political assessment. If I steal something tomorrow, beat someone or get an illegal weapon, and the police come to detain me, then what, should I say that it is a political persecution against me? The preliminary investigation should be completed. If I give an assessment now, I will hamper this process”.
Let us remind that after Nikol Pashinyan’s assumption of the office, the assignments to search the businesses of businessmen given by him, were not accepted positively by the Republican members. The latter started voicing about alleged suppressions against Republicans, even when criminal cases were filed on the facts that the Republican members used violence against demonstrators during the velvet revolution.
