At the government sitting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Baghramyan 26 should be the residence of the President of Armenia, as it has always been, and despite the fact that after the constitutional amendments the Prime Minister is the primary figure of the state, Baghramyan 26 should be the President’s residence. Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan presented the issue at the government sitting. He presented a draft on locating the government staff. Mr. Zeynalyan said the law requires the government to locate the government staff at Bagramyan 26 and Government House 1 on Republic Square.
Nikol Pashinyan said that since this issue is of public interest, he wants to clarify it. According to him, we have a strange situation when the Prime Minister may reside in two buildings, and “I want to say that we have not forgotten what we have criticized, and some opinions are voiced in this regard that after coming to power, we have forgotten what we have criticized, it is not so. What we have criticized, we will implement that over time and I think the Prime Minister should refuse to reside at Baghramyan 26. Over time we will return that residence to the President’s Staff. At the moment, there is a procedural problem we should solve”.
