On June 19-20, the RA NA Armenia-Bulgaria Friendship Group visited Bulgaria. The latter’s head Jemma Baghdasaryan, the members of the Group Aram Sargsyan and Mihran Hakobyan presented the details of the visit at June 29 press conference. The RA NA Vice President Mikayel Melkumyan and Armenuhi Kyureghyan were in the delegation.
According to Jemma Baghdasaryan, the Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria of Bulgaria Emil Hristov received the delegation. There were meetings with the representatives of Bulgaria-Armenia Friendship Group and the Armenian community of Bulgaria.
In the course of the meetings the counterparts highlighted the development of the friendly relations and the expansion of the ties in the spheres of politics, economy, culture, tourism and other spheres.
The Armenian MPs, particularly, considered instructive the experience of the EU Member Bulgaria on the way of joining the European Union family for Armenia.
The members of the delegation thanked their Bulgarian colleagues for the ratification of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, as well as for their efforts made in the Armenian Genocide recognition.
During the meetings the sides also touched upon the issue of Nagorno Karabakh conflict: the Armenian side emphasized the peaceful settlement of the problem in the frames of the OSCE Minsk Group.
At the end of the meeting with the Friendship Groups, where issues regarding the strengthening of the political ties, the mutual support on the international platforms, the cooperation in the economic and cultural spheres were discussed, and a Memorandum on Cooperation was signed between Armenia-Bulgaria Friendship Group and Bulgaria-Armenia Friendship Group.
Aram Sargsyan also talked about the meeting with the representatives of the Armenian community, the questions raised by them, which related to giving the RA passports to the children under 16, the cars with Bulgarian plate numbers entering Armenia. The Armenian MPs promised to inform the RA Government about this and other issues concerning them.
Mihran Hakobyan also highlighted the strengthening of multilateral ties with Bulgaria, the effective use of diplomacy and the rapprochement of contacts, touched upon the tendencies of development of tourism
Jemma Baghdasaryan informed that the Armenian delegation was awarded the Memorial Medal of the Parliament of the Republic of Bulgaria.
