The protest demanding the resignation of Garegin II in Echmiadzin ended with a march. Members of “New Armenia, New Catholicos” national-ecclesiastical movement called on the three churches of the Armenian Apostolic Church to join their demand for the resignation of the Catholicos. They quoted the letter of Patriarch of Jerusalem Nurhan Manukian, who said that he could not be the Catholicos of All Armenians. The initiators of the protest called the Patriarch for coming and taking care of the Church.
During the protest, St. Gayane Monastery Monk Koryun Arakelyan urged the National Security Service to conduct an inspection in the Treasury of the Holy See: “Everything is sold. In the future, we will present this in detail through a video”.
Father Koryun said that they will stop the protests in Yerevan and Echmiadzin if the Catholicos makes a decision to hold an extraordinary large-scale assembly to discuss the issues raised by the members of the movement.
