The Armenian side has made positional advancements in the interjacent area (there is no neutral zone as the borders of Armenia and Nakhichevan are not legally fixed) between the Republic of Armenia and Nakhichevan still in April. Expert on military issues, coordinator of Razm.info specialized website, Karen Vrtanesyan, stated this during the discussion at the “Armenian Institute for International and Security Affairs”.
He noted that according to the analysis of the satellite photos by Razm.info, advances by the Azerbaijani armed forces have been registered since May 2.
“Such works have been carried out most actively during May 9-25. Roads leading to the positions have been built. We have fixed seven roads from the Zangakatun to Areni”, said Karen Vrtanesyan. He added: “It is not clear how they have managed to make that position in Areni. Our positions are on both sides of the height, and they have located theirs in the middle of it, and have even managed to build a road. This is our one and only serious failure”.
