‘Mikayel Harutyunyan is a culprit, but no order without Robert Kocharyan could be in place’: Sakunts

July 05,2018 18:40

“Mikayel Harutyunyan is a culprit, but no order without Robert Kocharyan could be in place. He was the general commander,” said advocate Artur Sakunts referring to the announcement that the Second President of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan was involved as a witness in March 1 case.

Let us remind you that former minister of defense, Mikayel Harutyunyan was also indicted. Artur Sakunts did not agree with the terms of the announcements, implying that March 1 case had to be disclosed. According to him, everything has been clear and disclosed since long before: “What should we disclose? Robert Kocharyan? Violent actions against hundreds of people? It was a state terror against the citizens and an objective of keeping the power by force.”

As stated by Artur Sakunts, to reach a complete disclosure in a legal field one should have the image of the fates of the injured, which was not carried out until today: “Ruben Voskanyan, for example, after being subject to a shameful violence was in  hospital for 5 days in a row, they did not give him medical aid. People were made to give fake evidence as if they had used drugs, and if they accepted their guilt, they would be released earlier. They entered people’s houses, threatened them, arrested them illegally, suppressed them physically and psychologically. Hundreds of people were dismissed for taking part in the protests. Robert Baghdasaryan had received a gunshot wound, he was working in a bank, but he was refused to be accepted any longer. People were even deprived of their benefits.”

The advocate called on the people who were being prosecuted before and after March 1 not to be afraid of presenting their stories to the Special Investigation Service.
