Investigative Department of the Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts of the Yerevan Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has resumed the preliminary investigation of the criminal case on a gunshot injury caused to Yerevan resident David Simonyan in April 2007. Hayk Sargsyan is suspected of attempting to kill the latter, although earlier, in 2007, the criminal case was filed against A. Ghevondyan based on his testimony confessing his guilt.
Based on the newly revealed circumstances, on July 3, 2018, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia decided to send the criminal case to the Investigative Department of the Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts of the Yerevan Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia to carry out preliminary investigation.
As a result, sufficient facts have been collected to testify that Simonyan’s bodily injury was caused not by Ghevondyan’s negligence but by the intentional shot made by Yerevan resident, Hayk Sargsyan, born in 1984. Necessary investigative actions, including interrogation, were carried out with the latter’s participation.
Hayk Sargsyan is suspected of committing an act stipulated in the Part 1 of Article 34-104 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, that is a murder attempt. Preliminary investigation is underway.
