I know a watchman, a pensioner, who is a very kind person, knows many folk songs and sometimes sings for me. However, I am of no interest to him as a musician, he considers me a “political analyst”: this Soviet term describes people who speak on television, who know everything and make everything clear for the people. The elder generation remembers Yury Zhukov or Vsevolod Ovchinnikov. But, unlike the Soviet propagandists, whom most of the people believed, the average consumer of modern media in Armenia believes only in the rumors that match with his convictions. Well, the convictions can be judged from the “questions” that my friend asked me. I put the word “questions” in quotation marks, because they are not really questions, but claims that the watchman wants me to approve.
“Is it true that Serzh gave 2000 hectares of our lands in Nakhichevan to the Turks in January-February, and we get to know about it only now?”, “No, that is not true”, “Someone told me this several days ago”, “No, that cannot be true”. Of course, he did not believe me: if I approved his claim, he would consider me a better “political analyst”.
“So, when will they arrest Serzh and Kocharyan?”, “Perhaps, soon”, “I cannot sleep peacefully until they are arrested”, “If they are arrested, then what? What will change for you? Will you receive a higher pension?”, “No, the debts of 7 million that the people have to pay because of them will be taken from their pocket and returned to the state budget, so that the debts can be repaid”, “Will it be enough?”, “More than enough”.
The first episode of the talk was based on false information, the second contained a large “portion of truth”, only the numbers and expectations were exaggerated. But the third episode was the most interesting for me, of course.
“Then when will they arrest Levon?”, “Should they arrest him as well?”, “Of course, he started all this”, “Has Levon robbed too?”, “Of course, none of those aids, gasoline-diesel, that were sent, reached the people”, “Did Levon secretly sell gasoline and petrol?”, “Definitely”.
“Being convinced” that the first president should also be arrested, I wished all the dreams of my friend to come true. People will surely not get bored until the elections.
