Yesterday after the government session, the Minister of Nature Protection, Erik Grigoryan informed that they were initiating a project whereby single-use plastics would be banned in Armenia.
The Minister said that process would be launched from one of the villages, then it would be spread throughout the region, and afterwards, during some time, Armenia would join the countries where single-use plastics were banned.
As stated by Grigoryan, “This process has started in a lot of countries of the world since long ago. I think in the upcoming 5-10 years its usage will be banned in the whole world. We cannot put a ban at once, the process will be furthered gradually. We will suggest an alternative in a village, distributing cloth bags. And plastic bottles will be recycled.”
According to the Minister, financial means will not be taken from the state budget, they have other financial sources.
