On his way from Brussels to Yerevan, Nikol Pashinyan gave an interview to the accompanying journalists, referring to not only the meetings in Brussels but also some domestic and external political issues. He informed in particular, that there was no conversation about the possible meeting with Azerbaijani President. He said: “If one side prepares not for a peaceful resolution but manifests aggressiveness, it means there is no atmosphere for resolving the issue. This should be recorded by the international community, and we should record the situation and be ready for any development.”
As regards Armenia-NATO cooperation, the Prime Minister said: “We implement two missions in partnership with NATO – in Kosovo and Afghanistan. We will continue having our participation in those programs for sure. If further programs are in place, they will be discussed. Everything is discussed upon necessity. We do not have any constraints for discussing any issue or cooperation, all questions exclusively within the context of the interests of the Republic of Armenia.”
Referring to domestic problems and Robert Kocharyan’s absence from interrogation and some actions following it, Pashinyan said: “I do not make decisions. The decisions are regulated by law. Mechanisms exist envisaging actions in case someone does not come to the interrogation. I can only say in my part that everyone is equal before the law.”
Mr. Pashinyan also emphasized that they did not “pursue” any particular persons or families, they followed the law: if there is an application of a certain person or an operative information, then the process is started, it does not take place on the ground of political decisions: “There is one political decision – all people are equal before the law. The rest should be executed in complement with the procedure prescribed by law.”
Prime Minister also addressed to the resignation of Yerevan City Mayor and the election of new mayor: “The City Council will hold a session. If it elects a new mayor, then fine, if it does not elect a new mayor, then extraordinary elections will take place.”
Regarding the parliamentary elections and Republican Party of Armenia’s participation in the elections, Mr. Pashinyan said: “As a candidate to prime minister’s position, I announced during the first discussion from the tribune of the National Assembly of Armenia, that the RPA made a suicide. How can the political force having made a suicide consolidate? I have mentioned during the rallies – Serzh Sargsyan is a political corpse. How can a political corpse participate in elections?”
Addressing to “Sasna Tsrer’s” release, the PM said that the courts should decide themselves: “There are judges who do not believe that all taking place around them is a reality, they should understand that they should make independent decisions.”
