July 16,2018 13:44

According to Artsrun Hovhannisyan, the Press secretary of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, it is still soon to compare the number of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, who returned to the country and were conscripted to army of the past year with the number of Armenian citizens having returned and conscripted this year.

Let us remind you that after the call of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, 300 citizens of the Republic of Armenia returned to Armenia to be conscripted to the army.

Statistics show that in the same course of time of the past year, without Nikol Pashinyan’s call, 345 persons returned and took up military service. So, the number has decreased by 45 persons this year.

Aravot.am asked, what was the reason that even without Prime Minister’s call more citizens of the Republic of Armenia returned and took up military service last year as compared to this year’s number. Mr. Hovhannisyan replied: “Firstly, time is needed for saying if it is a bigger or smaller number. Conscription is not over yet and I still do not speak of the year. Consequently, it is wrong to summarize. Conscription is still in process: until July 31, people can come and take up military service, but it is a given fact that there is a bigger activeness, it is not arguable.”
