Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, the president of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, Armen Ashotyan writes on his Facebook page: “I consider voicing estimations non-compliant to the strategic depth of Armenian-Russian relations extremely dangerous. It is for sure that any encroachment towards the sovereignty of Armenia is impermissible. However, this was not the case. As of yesterday, the incident connected with military exercises could have been considered exhausted in public discourse, the apologies could have been accepted and the further process could have been continued upon the rules of order, excluding similar cases in the future. It was not understandable what was behind Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s sharp estimation voiced at the government session if the Russian military base had already sent words of regret and apologies the day before. I also consider the hasty estimations by Russian media and analysts on this matter ugly. Do not let it evolve into something big. Try to freeze this dangerous process via diplomatic pipes.”
