“I personally have not urged Taron Margaryan to do anything”, stated Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the press conference held in the government, in response to the question whether he had personally urged Taron Margaryan to resign. He also noted that the “Civil Contract” discusses the nomination of their mayoral candidate.
Touching upon the extraordinary parliamentary elections, Nikol Pashinyan disagreed that people’s euphoria decreases over time: “The more time passes by, the higher people’s euphoria will become”. He did not mention the exact date of the elections, said it depends on the political situation. According to him, there might be a need to hold them even within a month.
In response to the question whether how they are going to ensure the prevention of the same violations made during previous elections, the Prime Minister said that criminal cases have been filed on the previous violations. However, he said, there must be grounds for criminal liability: “I urge all citizens to cooperate with law enforcement bodies. No one will be charged without sufficient evidence, even if the current Prime Minister made statements that this or that person is an offender in the past. That has been a political statement. No obstacles will prevent establishing legitimacy. I am sure that law enforcement bodies will have results”.
