“We have clearly stated that there will be no deviations in Armenia’s foreign policy. We have not participated in any format meetings that could be deviating for our country”, said Nikol Pashinyan at the press conference in the government in response to the question, that the Russian side qualifies Armenia’s participation in NATO summit and exercises as “provocation”, that being Russia’s strategic ally Armenia deepens its relations with NATO and generally the West.
The Prime Minister made it clear that in Brussels he attended not the NATO summit, but the summit of countries conducting peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan. Armenia is among those countries.
Nikol Pashinyan reminded that Armenia had relations with NATO and the EU even before the revolution: “We have said that we have fulfilled and continue to fulfill our international commitments”.
In response to a clarifying question whether Armenia will participate in NATO Noble Partner 2018 exercise in Georgia on August 1, the Prime Minister said: “There has been no such question on my agenda. We will discuss and make a decision”.
