France will continue to contribute to the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict for the benefit of the peoples of the region. This is stated in the report released by the Elysee Palace, which summarizes the meeting of French and Azerbaijani presidents Emmanuel Macron and Ilham Aliyev in Paris.

“The presidents of the two countries exchanged views on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. As OSCE Minsk Group co-chair France has a special responsibility to ensure long-term peace in the region”, says the report.

The French President has stated that he will continue to look for solutions based on negotiations and has stressed that the negotiations are the only way to resolve the conflict and establish a lasting peace in the region.

The report also notes that Macron has welcomed the meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers in Brussels on July 11. “French President will closely follow the situation and France will take all the steps along with Russia and US co-chairs to succeed in the settlement process”, the report states.
