According to Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan, the situation on the border is controllable and stable at this point. “I cannot tell more than that”, said the Minister.
Talking about organizing the return of Karen Ghazaryan, born in 1984, resident of Tavush Berdavan village, captured by Azerbaijanis, Davit Tonoyan said: “If he was a prisoner of war, he would be a soldier, he was captured and declared by Azerbaijan as a serviceman. We have provided proofs to the International Red Cross representation, have informed the Co-Chair countries about the case, and Karen Ghazaryan’s relatives have also taken some steps. They have appealed to the European Court of Human Rights.
We are working in three directions, unfortunately, the Red Cross has not been given the opportunity to visit yet, but as Chairman of the Committee on missing persons and captives, I keep in touch with representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross to visit our citizen as soon as possible”.
