Aravot.am asked Hovhannes Igityan, member of the Armenian National Movement board, whether Robert Kocharyan’s short-term detention might become some sort of a “purgatory” for him to consider himself “cleaned” and to decide to return to politics again.
“Robert Kocharyan has the worst reputation among the three presidents, and it is irreversible. This is unprecedented: no one from the people stood by Robert Kocharyan to support him, no media, no journalist tries to protect him.
Robert Kocharyan, who came to power in Armenia illegally and left the power leaving March 1 behind, will never be able to enter the politics of Armenia anymore. Robert Kocharyan has obtained his financial means from Armenia, taking Armenia as a means of making money. We have witnessed how much money he has been spending from Africa to Russia within those ten years. Thus, it is unlikely that such a person will be able to receive votes in Armenia”.
