On July 30, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration Naira Zohrabyan met with the President of the National Association of Consumers Melita Hakobyan and the representatives of the Association.
The members of the Association presented the program ‘Armenia without Tobacco’ the children and the women were chosen as a target group – passive smokers the draft law on Decrease and Prevention of the Negative Influence of the Use of the Tobacco Production Kinds and which would be submitted to the parliament.
Touching upon the health consequences of the tobacco use Naira Zohrabyan has noted that nobody violates the smokers’ right: that is their choice but we should also protect the right of the non-smokers, women and children. According to the statistics, the percentage of malignant new formation with the children and women increases. As to the Committee Chair, as an honourable donor of the republic, she permanently focuses on that problem. To Naira Zohrabyan’s assessment, this healthcare issue relates to the national security and there is need for the complex and targeted work of the circles.
During the meeting an agreement was reached to organize an event within the framework of anti-tobacco with the women’s participation later, where female MPs of the NA parliamentary factions would also take part.
