Armenia is consistent about the issue of Slovakia’s illegal arm supplies to Azerbaijan. Armenian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tigran Balayan said this at a briefing. Journalists asked whether what the new authorities of Armenia do about the issue of arms sales to Azerbaijan by Russia and Belarus, which, unlike Slovakia, are members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization together with Armenia.
“The Armenian government, whether new or previous, has always voiced about the issue to our partners in Russia and Belarus. Let us not focus on the supply of arms by one country. Slovakia’s supply is a violation of international law”, noted Tigran Balayan.
According to him, in case of other countries, when the process is legal, Armenia has no mechanisms of influence: “It is about legal influence. In general, the supply of lethal weapons to Azerbaijan, whose policy is unpredictable, is disputable. These weapons may also be applied against the Azerbaijani population”.
