Azerbaijan against OSCE monitoring in Nakhichevan

August 01,2018 13:40

Armenia attaches importance to the continuous monitoring of Nakhichevan border by the  OSCE Personal Representative’s office observers, which can be a deterrent factor for Azerbaijan. Armenian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tigran Balayan told this at a briefing.

He reminded that the Azerbaijani side recently makes provocations on Nakhichevan border: “The Armenian side has been constantly appealing to the office of Andrzej Kasprzyk to carry out monitoring, but so far Azerbaijan has not agreed to organize monitoring”, said Tigran Balayan.

As regards Karen Ghazaryan, who has recently crossed the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in unknown circumstances, the Spokesman told there is no news from him. “Azerbaijan has violated the Geneva Convention not allowing the Red Cross representatives to visit him so far. Nevertheless, the issue is at the center of our attention, the works are being carried out”.
