Ararat Mirzoyan, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, does not see any danger in the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov’s announcement: “My estimation literally coincides with the formulation of the Foreign Ministry, I do not have anything to add,” he said.
“The events in Armenia contradict to the announcements of the new leadership of the country promising that the people holding their position prior to them would not be subject to political prosecutions,” reads Lavrov’s announcement made after the Second President of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan was arrested, CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov and former Minister of Defence, Mikayel Harutyunyan were accused.
Aravot.am asked the Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia if such announcement from Russia would not endanger Armenian-Russian relations and if it was not interference in the policy Armenian authorities pursued. Mr Mirzoyan replied in a short: “No”.
