Coordinator of Helsinki Initiative -92 Nagorno Karabakh Committee, laureate of Peace and Human Rights International prizes, Karen Ohanjanyan, wrote on his Facebook page:
“Recently, both Armenia and Artsakh have started to take the possible resumption of large-scale military operations by Azerbaijan seriously. If earlier the Armenian authorities had an inadequate attitude towards the strengthening of the Azerbaijani military forces along the entire borderline, today they are serious about it. Moreover, together with the Artsakh authorities, they undertake all necessary actions to prevent a new war.
However, the technogenic catastrophe of Mingechaur Thermal Power Plant and the Islamist incidents in Gyanja, delayed the intentions of Azerbaijan, Turkey, and their allies, to solve the Karabakh issues through military actions. Today, even though the situation on the border is relatively calm, but the military solution has not lost its relevance, especially that some of the “friendly” countries would like to punish the new authorities of Armenia for their own purposes.
Thus, the international provocation headed by Azerbaijan against two sovereign Armenian states is obvious. In an interview with “Aravot” in December 2015, I stated that the actions on the border resemble a war. I have stated this also on international platforms. Many laughed at me for my conclusions, yet, in April 2016 we witnessed the actions of the aggressors’ international coalition, of Azerbaijan. It was only due to the unity of the whole Armenian nation that the aggression turned into a fiasco.
Today I state the same: whatever Azerbaijan is carrying out along the border with Armenia and Artsakh is a preparation for large-scale military aggression that may begin in August or September. It is not possible that the aggressor spends millions of dollars every day just only to show off.
I do not want to cause panic among the population, but I ask everyone to be vigilant, the war may begin in August or September, any day. For the sake of our freedom, the centuries-old dream of the entire Armenian nation, I call on everyone to put aside all kinds of insults, offenses, and to unite with the authorities of Artsakh and Armenia to prevent the attack of the barbarians. And I call upon the authorities of Artsakh and Armenia, till it is too late, to use all internal and external mechanisms to prevent the regional catastrophe. Let us protect our homeland together”.
