Condoms are widely advertised in Kyiv, they even persuade, “choose the good and regular sex with the minimum risk” – by using condoms. It is understandable that such advertisements are aimed at public health first and foremost, and especially HIV/AIDS prevention.
You will not see such social advertisements in Armenia, especially on billboards, and moreover – a propaganda on “sex with condoms”. You will find a little and “invisible” posters where something is hinted about it with tiny letters and unnoticeable picture.
Years ago, when the program of family planning was invested in the Republic of Armenia, the supporters of “Armenian genes” opposed, saying it was against the reproduction of our nation. Afterward, when condom machines were put in some entertainment areas, the keepers of “Armenian genes” made a fuss as if what was being propagated to the youth was a shame.
However, the doctors will confirm that the sexually transmitted diseases are widespread in Armenia, the culture of “safe sex” is at a low level, there is a shortage of “sexual education”. Meanwhile, the social advertisements on this topic are ordinary in the countries having these issues, and educate the society.
