President Armen Sarkissian sent a letter of condolences to the family of the “last mohican” of La Résistance Arsen Chakarian on his demise.
The letter states:
“The life story of this unbendable member of the Manouchian Group reflects the greatest tragedies of the 20th century as well as the spirit of struggle for freedom and justice.
No stranger to the miserable fate of the Armenian Genocide survivors and the inconsolable pain of his people’s enormous loses, he along with a group of apatrides just like himself, raised against fascism in a life or death fight; in post-war years, up until his demise, he fought for the restoration of historical justice.
The life of Arsen Chakarian teaches us how to remain true to the ideals, to truth and humanity.
Eternal glory to him and his fallen friends.”
