The disaffiliation from the once powerful party, Republican Party of Armenia, intensively continues. According to official data, after the resignation of the Republican Party of Armenia President Serzh Sargsyan from the Prime Minister’s post on April 23, 4 thousand 500 people left the Republican Party of Armenia till August 1.
Ruben Tadevosyan, Chairman of the Republican Party Organizing Committee, stated that this is a usual phenomenon, 15 thousand people were expelled from the party last year too. At the same time, the Republican representative insisted that this will not create problems during the upcoming parliamentary election.
“I do not think there will be problems. This is a normal working process”, he said. Let us note that although Ruben Tadevosyan presented the official data they possess, the real picture is totally different: the number of those leaving the Republican Party is more than tens of thousands, just not everyone finds it necessary to apply to the party offices.
