According to our sources in Goris, Syunik former governor Surik Khachatryan’s family had left for France after the revolution. Only his younger son stayed in Armenia to look after their properties. “However, he did not stay in their Goris house, was rarely visiting, mostly stayed in Yerevan”, our source noted.
According to the source, when there were rumors that Surik Khachatryan’s son would also be in the target, the latter’s father urged his son to remain calm and bold, since he did not have anything to be afraid of. Let us remind that Trdat Khachatryan has addressed an open letter to the Minister of Defense asking to recruit him to the army. According to him, because of the family dispute with Budaghyans, he has acquired a light form of neurasthenia.
Khachatryan’s eldest son, Tigran, suffers from this same disease too, according to the documents. Both brothers first received an academic deferment, then were granted a medical discharge. Let us remind that Tigran was imprisoned on suspicion of Avetik Budaghyan’s murder, but later was released on the basis of the absence of corpus delicti.
But according to our source, Trdat and Tigran Khachatryans have no health problems. Moreover, during school years in Vernashen village school, Tigran, as an excellent learner, was studying a grade higher than others of his age. Later, Tigran Khachatryan left for the Czech Republic to continue his studies, but returned and entered Goris State University. Soon he was elected as President of the Student Council.
Tigran was an excellent student due to his father’s efforts and was studying free of charge. After the arrest, by the decision of the former rector of Goris State University, Yura Safaryan, he was expelled from the university. During the office of current rector Artyushya Ghukasyan, he graduated from the university.
By the way, Tigran Khachatryan, who has not served in the army, was the head of Yerkrapah Voluntary Union’s Goris Youth Organization and was awarded the Yerkrapah Union Medal.
