August 08,2018 15:35

Deputy Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia David Sargsyan touched upon one of the previous statements made by Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan stating that there have been embezzlements within “Ari Tun” program. “The State Supervision Service is currently carrying out an investigation on past embezzlements, the results of which will be announced in the near future when the process is over”, said the Deputy Minister.

David Sargsyan noted: “We already have some data on embezzlement, but we will not publish at this point until the official data is complete”. As for the new “Step towards home” program, which replaces the “Ari Tun” program, according to the Deputy Minister, the new organization, which has won the competition, will be completely transparent.

“We will be aware of any expense of the winning organization: the company will submit a relevant report on all costs”, the Deputy Minister of Diaspora assured.

Let us remind that the new program “Step towards home” is the merging of the “Ari Tun” and “Diaspora Summer School” programs. In response to the journalists’ question if the new program has preserved the components of the previous two, and only the educational events have expanded, whether what was the need to change the name, whether there is a political subcontext connected to the “My Step” movement, the Deputy Minister smiled and said: “I believe no”. He did not clarify why the name of the program was changed. “As a result of a general discussion, we chose this name. New program, new name”.
