August 08,2018 17:35

Chief of Police of the Republic of Armenia, Valeri Osipyan, held a secret working consultation in Gyumri. As the Chief of Police explained himself, he discussed the work done with his colleagues from Shirak regional department, gave tasks and invited their attention to the mistakes. Among the crimes, apartment robberies were put in the spotlight, about which the citizens are concerned very much.

Referring to the frequent detentions and releases taken place lately, the Chief of Police said: “We are guided by the law exclusively, and the law enforcement system, the Police encompassed, I assure you, will not detain any citizen unless it is important and will not lodge an appeal. If  there are detainees then it has been necessary, and if there are detainees who are released, it means we have had respective information and in order to check an information we both invite and detain, if the information is untrue, they are released.”

The Chief of Police also addressed to Yerevan City Council elections, saying they had started eliminating mismatches, reducing them to the minimum or excluding them. “I find that the Police has a direct interference in the results of the elections. Having an influence on the results does not mean that the Police undertake election fraud and etc., but by not serving and not bringing the lists to order, leaving the lists unchecked and incomplete, we thus have a negative influence on the results. Failing to properly serve in the local election offices, we have an influence on the results, failing to prevent vote-buying, we have an influence on the results. I assure you, regardless of what elections are going to take place in the Republic of Armenia, believe me, we are going to have unprecedented elections,” assured Valeri Osipyan.

He also said we should expect new disclosures, and in what field, the Chief of Police called on not to rush.

Valeri Osipyan announced that corruption is totally eliminated in the Police of the Republic of Armenia, and the colleagues, who have not understood it, will bear the punishment provided by law.
