Why Pavlik Manukyan is not released?

August 09,2018 14:53

Judge Mesrop Makyan made a decision to reject the petition for changing detention as preventive measure against  freedom fighter Pavel Manukyan, a defendant in “Sasna Tsrer” case, a member of an armed group who had seized the police regiment in 2016. This means that Manukyan will not be released.

Although “Tsarukyan” faction members Vahe Enfiajyan and Shake Isayan had presented recommendations for changing the preventive measure against Pavel Manukyan, during the discussion of the petition, prosecutor Aram Aramyan objected, pointing out that Manukyan had made a statement the addressees of which had denied it. Thus, according to the prosecutor, Pavlik Manukyan tried to distort the facts. “He hastened and did not come to an agreement with his group members”. Manukyan’s defender, Azat Shahbazyan did not agree with the prosecutor: “They say the situation in the country has changed. So, Vachagan Ghazaryan and Yuri Khachaturov can be released on bail, and the freedom fighter cannot. This means that nothing has changed in this court hall”.

Regarding the petition and his statement Pavlik Manukyan said: “There is no crack between us, groupmates. But the truth should be voiced. I do not have any intention to distort anything, I fight for the sake of Armenia”.

Varuzhan Avetisyan, “Sasna Tsrer” group member and a defendant in the case, said: “Pavel Manukyan no longer adjust his statements with the group’s statements from July and expresses his own point of view”.

By the way, while reporting the decision on the petition, judge Makyan voiced the fact that Manukyan had informed about new circumstances, which means that being in freedom he could carry out unlawful acts on other defendants of the case.
