The Republican Party of Armenia has published the names of its MPs, who have joined the petition to change detention as preventive measure against the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan.
Khosrov Harutyunyan is one of those who have signed. In response to Aravot.am’s question, whether how come the Republican Party did not present a petition for Manvel Grigoryan, who is a member of the party, has serious health problems, and is indicted for stealing canned meat, but it signed one for Robert Kocharyan, who has nothing to do with the Republican Party and is indicted for the murder of 10 people, and for overthrowing the constitutional system, Khosrov Harutyunyan said: “First,what you say proves that the Republican Party does not act only for the sake of its interests. Second, let us agree that, putting his health problems aside, the facts and videos that were published against Manvel Grigoryan shocked all of us”.
In response to our remark that March 1 was no less shocking, Khosrov Harutyunyan said: “That is true. We say that in case of Manvel Grigoryan there were concrete facts proving certain things, and that was a ground to arrest him. But we talk about something else now. Only the fact that the Republican Party did not present a petition for Manvel Grigoryan means that the party does not consider any political links, the opposite. In this case it made a petition because it is about the state institute, the state symbol. Detention against the second President of Armenia, given the fact that the indictment against him still needs to be proven, is unacceptable. The state institute should be respected”.
Khosrov Harutyunyan did not rule out the Republican Party may present a petition for Manvel Grigoryan too, based on his health problems. As to Kocharyan’s case, Khosrov Harutyunyan stressed that he is for revealing the March 1 case.
