Putin and Nazarbayev discuss CSTO Secretary General’s issue

The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, has discussed the situation evolved around CSTO with his Russian colleague, Vladimir Putin, writes “RIA Novosti”.

“One of the topics of the discussion is the issue of CSTO Secretary General, which has become a problem to us,” said Nazarbayev.

Putin responded: “As regards wider relations, CSTO frameworks, EurAsEc frameworks, very big agenda is in place here, big plans and also problematic matters, similar to what you just mentioned.”

CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov is accused under Article 300.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. An appeal was lodged against him on March 1, 2008 case for violating the constitutional order. Khachaturov was released on bail. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia has announced that they have applied to CSTO with a request on starting a process of replacing Yuri Khachaturov.
