Armenian PM and Donald Trump meeting likely to take place in October or November: expert

August 13,2018 19:33

“I find it slightly difficult to imagine the organization of that meeting, inasmuch as the agenda of the US President in the framework of that summit is going to be too compressed,” referring to the likely meeting between the Prime Minister of the republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, and the US President, Donald Trump, in the framework of the Summit of the UN General Assembly, said expert on US affairs, Suren Sargsyan.

He believes the meeting will perhaps come to life in October or November. “It is going to be a historical meeting, because the last time the leaders of the Republic of Armenia and the US met was in 2010, but at that time Obama and Serzh Sargsyan’s topic of discussion was Armenian-Turkish protocols,” noticed the expert.

According to him, Pashinyan-Trump likely meeting will be historical in the sense that Armenian side will perhaps propose new questions to the US for developing bilateral relations: “Today the quality of Armenia-US relations is not that high. If meetings of high-ranked level do not take place, it means there are no matters of vital importance.”
