Today the press conference of the Second President of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, did not take place, as informed earlier.
One of the participants of “Privet, Rob” (meaning hi, Rob, as translated from Russian) protest, Davit Petrosyan, said that especially after the revolution, they were not going to tolerate any injustice and murderers in our country: “Injustice is not going to work easily in the Republic of Armenia. Hi, Rob. If any President of the Republic of Armenia wants to hold a press conference and fails, then…”
According to Karen Tovmasyan, member of “Armenian National Congress” party and a participant of the protests, Kocharyan has no right to give a press conference, people should chase him and shout at him: “murderer!” Asked if he did not think it was a rough restriction of Kocharyan’s rights, he replied: “And was it his right to declare an emergency situation without its need? Was it his right to shoot 10 people dead on the street? Was it his right to falsify the elections? Was it his right to steal the results of the people’s election? If he can grant himself with these many rights, then I can grant myself with this sole right as well.”
As stated by Karen Tovmasyan, the judges appointed by Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan still work in the courts, they make use of the fact that Nikol Pashinyan does not influence the courts, and make illegal decisions on supposedly corrupt grounds: “As the citizen of the Republic of Armenia, I am not going to tolerate the decisions made by corrupt judges having had a conflict of interests.”
The protestors demanded that the Prosecutor’s Office applied to the Court of Cassation and declared the decision of the Court of Appeals as illegal.
Asked if it made sense not to allow the press conference to take place, Karen Tovmasyan answered: “The sense was that Robert Kocharyan should not be able to punch the citizens of the Republic of Armenia with his cynical thoughts. Let Kocharyan organize press conferences abroad, buy a ticket for you and invite you, let him organize his press conference in his house.”
Karen Tovmasyan said that “by this, we threw Robert Kocharyan a message that he has no right to freely walk in Armenia and to hold a press conference. Wherever he holds a press conference, we will appear and shout out loud – Robert, the murderer!”
