“It is more important to meet congressmen. We have allies in the US Congress who help us very much. Thanks to them, we have influence on Trump’s cabinet,” said international relations specialist Suren Sargsyan in a press conference, regarding the deputy prime minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan’s visit to America in July and his meetings with congressmen.
“However, the situation now is such that Democratic congressmen, particularly Adam Schiff, are Trump’s biggest enemies. Therefore, when congressmen started a petition for Trump and Pashinyan to meet (which began on July 24th), and Trump sees that the majority of people who signed the petition were of the opposing party, he will begin to have other thoughts about us. We must understand how and through whom can Armenia have influence on the USA,” Suren Sargsyan observed.
In regard to German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s upcoming visit to Armenia, the expert emphasized, “That is the highest-level visit one can make to Armenia. No chancellor has ever visited Armenia. Germany is one of Armenia’s biggest donor nations, and questions regarding that will be discussed. The visit will also be a possibility for us to establish even deeper relations with the European Union.”
