“Has the field of journalism in Armenia ever been as free as it is today? I’m asking you,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told reporters when asked what he would say regarding criticism that freedom of speech is being violated under his administration.
When asked whether reporters are attacked for criticizing any minister under the current administration, Pashinyan answered, “I don’t agree with attacking anyone for criticizing someone and I asked that everyone regard all criticism as being constructive, because, within every critique, I personally see the possibility of finding your own faults and fixing them.”
When asked about what the diaspora minister meant when he asked that several media outlets “wake up,” the prime minister said, “It’s not like I have always been in this position. I spend the majority of my life in your shoes. I think that we all need to take into consideration the new reality and work in that direction.”
