The World Youth Boxing Championship began in Budapest, Hungary. There are 359 participants from 65 countries.
There are five participants from Armenia: 49 kg Seyran Eghikyan, 52 kg Artur Bazeyan, 56 kg Rafayel Hakobyan, 64 kg Benik Nikoghosyan, and 75 kg Rafayel Hovhannisyan.
The first of the Armenian participants to enter the ring during the qualification round was 56 kg Rafayel Hakobyan, who competed against Turkish participant Aykol Mizan and quickly gained on him. Rafayel, in the first round, knocked down his competitor.
