“There won’t be any election bribes. But the innovation of the police is that we will be conscientious,” Police Chief Valery Osipyan said in regard to the upcoming Yerevan City Council elections on September 23rd, answering the question of whether the police will be innovative or not.
Responding to a reporter’s observation that there was evidence of election bribes in prior elections, the police chief said, “I’m not saying it never happened. We have videos thanks to reporters about such occurrences. We will be happy if you will help us again this time.”
Then, Mr. Osipyan expressed confidence that there won’t be any election bribes this time. “They might use secret technology to give out election bribes, but the police fully understands those technologies and will guard against it. Don’t make me state what those technologies are.”
