On August 30, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, Foreign Minister of Armenia, received Ngo Duc Manh, the newly appointed Ambassador of Vietnam to Armenia on the occasion of handing over the copies of his credentials.
Welcoming the guest, Minister Mnatsakanyan congratulated Ambassador Mann upon commencing his diplomatic mission in Armenia and expressed confidence that the new Ambassador will make a significant contribution to further development of the Armenian-Vietnamese bilateral relations. The Foreign Minister of Armenia reassured that deepening and strengthening the cooperation with Vietnam is one of Armenia’s foreign policy priorities.
The interlocutors discussed issues on the further expansion of cooperation between the two friendly countries, both in bilateral and multilateral formats. In this context, the sides touched upon the prospects of cooperation between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as the collaboration between the EAEU and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Both sides noted that the platform for cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and Vietnam provides an opportunity for expanding and strengthening bilateral economic ties. The interlocutors exchanged views on the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade-Economic, Scientific-Educational and Technical Cooperation.
Minister Mnatsakanyan and Ambassador Mann highlighted the cooperation in multilateral platforms, particularly emphasizing the importance of the format of the International Organization of La Francophonie. The interlocutors expressed readiness to continue activities aimed at expanding the legal framework.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on a number of regional issues. In this context Minister Mnatsakanyan presented the approaches and priorities of the Armenian side over the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, underscoring the need of creating an environment conducive to peace for the advancement of the process. Foreign Minister of Armenia also highly appreciated Vietnam’s balanced position on the issue.
