Second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan’s office head Viktor Soghomonyan spoke to 168.am in an interview about Kocharyan’s meetings regarding the societal-political framework and other issues.
– You said that Robert Kocharyan has been consulting with several political and public officials. Do those meetings continue?
– They continue, although there will be a little break this upcoming week. President Kocharyan will be leaving Armenia for a few days and when he returns, he will continue discussions regarding the forming political platform.
– Why is Kocharyan leaving, and does he have the right to leave the country?
– Yes, he does. After the court’s decision, President Kocharyan is not limited in his right to travel. Nevertheless, in the presence of lawyers, Robert Kocharyan personally wrote a letter to the investigative body describing his travel dates and reasons.
– Over the past few days, Robert Kocharyan gave two interviews to the Russian media. How is this decided? It seems that you deliberately give interviews for Russian media.
– First, it needs to be said that the Russian media is particularly focused on current events in Armenia. It’s apparent that that’s in high demand in the media. Their activity is decided based upon that and it’s understandable. But, to answer your question, I need to say that we don’t have any basis for making the decision to be interviewed by any particular media outlet or by any reporter based on their nationality. We have many offers to be interviewed from Armenian, Russian, and European media.
