Pashinyan’s reaction to Putin congratulating Kocharyan and Lavrov’s announcement

September 05,2018 14:36

The entire framework of Armenian-Russian relations will be discussed during the upcoming meeting between Pashinyan and Putin that will take place in September. “All issues will be discussed,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told reporters.

Reporters asked him if he saw any political implications when Putin wished Robert Kocharyan a happy birthday. Pashinyan gave a negative answer. “That is a question of personal relations. After meeting the Russian president, I can say that he is someone who appreciates and upholds personal relationships. This also applies to current and former national leaders. For example, despite his difficult relations with the European Union, he went to a high-ranking Austrian official’s wedding.”

The prime minister, answering a reporter’s observation that Putin hadn’t wished Kocharyan a happy birthday over the past ten years, said, “Honestly, I haven’t studied the situation as closely as you have.”

Then Nikol Pashinyan announced that he did not give his testimonial of the March 1st criminal case. “When it’s necessary, I’ll do it.”

Regarding Robert Kocharyan’s announcement that he wants to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections, the prime minister said, “Anyone who can participate according to the laws of Armenia will participate.”

Regarding Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s latest announcement that the situation in Armenia continues to “boil,” Nikol Pashinyan joked, “It was truly hot today.”
