PM receives OSCE Secretary General

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Thomas Greminger, Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

The Premier said Armenia appreciates the cooperation with the OSCE in terms of ensuring European and regional security, as well as in other areas of mutual interest, and is prepared to build on the ties of effective partnership. Stating the current high level of cooperation, the parties discussed prospects for its deepening.

Touching upon the recent political developments in Armenia, the Prime Minister introduced the reforms aimed at promoting democracy and the rule of law in the country, fighting corruption and holding early parliamentary elections. Nikol Pashinyan pointed out that the holding of free, transparent and democratic elections is a priority, and the Government looks forward to being supported by its international partners, including OSCE’s technical and expert support.

Thomas Greminger welcomed the processes underway in our country and expressed willingness to back the Government’s reform agenda.

The Prime Minister and the OSCE Secretary General next referred to the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Nikol Pashinyan highly valued the active efforts exerted by the OSCE and the international community with a view to making our region safer and reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to achieving a negotiated settlement within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.
