The leader of the “Heritage” party, Raffi Hovhannisyan, organized a meeting to create and encourage an equal, civilized, and respectful environment between the political parties before the upcoming Yerevan City Council elections. Of the 12 participating political forces, 6 were present at the meeting: “Hayq,” “Heritage,” “Reformists,” “People’s Way,” “Luys” alliance, and “Rule of Law.”
The members listed in 2nd place on the ballots or the chiefs of staff were present at the discussion. The discussion took place at the Armenian Center for National and International Studies.
Overall, all the participants agreed that the pre-election time frame and the election itself need to be conducted in an equal, civilized, and respectful manner.
The 2nd candidate on the “Heritage” party’s ballot for the Yerevan City Council elections, Armen Martirosyan, said that there is fear that it will be possible that votes will be bought through other mechanisms. “People could buy votes while seemingly recruiting workers and volunteers. Law enforcement agencies have a problem here, and if such steps are taken, especially on a large scale, then they must be uncovered.” According to Martirosyan, a unique political campaign will take place for the first time in favor of struggle, not against it.
