The members of the Republican Party want to support and have their place in the lawmaking process. Eduard Sharmazanov said that he personally will put forth several legislative projects. “The first legislative project will be changes in the “Protection of Children” law. Pedophilic and homosexual propaganda need to be banned.”
Aravot.am asked him how he plans to ban homosexual propaganda. Will he ban Elton John from coming to Armenia and preaching? Sharmazanov replied that that will be a topic for discussion, but if he has to come here and kiss his boyfriend in front of Armenian citizens and children, then that is promoting homosexual propaganda.
According to Sharmazanov, “I don’t want to tie this only to Elton John.” Answering the question of if he’s going to ban Elton John from kissing his boyfriend in Armenia’s streets, will he also ban kissing between members of opposite sexes, Sharmazanov replied, “If a kiss between members of opposite sexes will eventually lead to a healthy baby, then a kiss between members of the same sex leads to something very bad.”
