‘We don’t want Nikol Pashinyan to be sole authority’: Artur Baghdasaryan

September 09,2018 13:38

“Our country has had a sole authority since the beginning: Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Robert Kocharyan, Serzh Sargsyan… we don’t want Nikol Pashinyan to be the sole authority now. Armenia needs to have multifunctional leadership,” said “Rule of Law” political party leader Artur Baghdasaryan during an event for the presentation of the party’s projects. The Rule of Law will be participating in the upcoming Yerevan City Council elections on September 23rd, and will present its entire plan on Monday- when the election campaigns begin.

“Having a sole authority is dangerous for any country. I’m saying that as a politician who supports the current revolution. Having a political sole authority brings a sole economic authority and negative demonstrations in society. The society that has an easy system of restraints and balance will advance freely,” Artur Baghdasaryan said.

He emphasized that while the Rule of Law supports the revolution, it is not the same as the revolution and it will put forth its own political agenda. “The government faces challenges: lack of experience, a lack of an agenda to advance socio-economic issues, external political issues, and no team with sufficient professional potential. I agree that it’s impossible to clean up a huge mess within four months, but at the same time there has to be a strategic plan.”
