The ARF faction leader, Armen Rustamyan, has official information and impressions from announcements in Yerevan regarding the meeting between Nikol Pashinyan and Vladimir Putin that took place on Saturday. After the meeting, the prime minister posted on Facebook that everything is great between Armenia and Russia and that there are no problems.
“Our relations are so important and meaningful, that all other issues have to be considered secondary in comparison. And I think that that logic has been dominant during the meeting,” Armen Rustamyan said to reporters.
He doesn’t share the view that in order for Armenia-Russia relations to get better, Russia needs to stop selling weapons to Azerbaijan. He thinks that is very drastic.
According to him, the current problems have been discussed, but diplomatic etiquette does not allow for him to announce everything. In any case, important agreements have been made for both countries.
In response to Aravot.am’s observation that there are worries that as a result of sending troops to Syria, Armenia may face sanctions from the United States, Armen Rustamyan stated that the collaboration is simply humanitarian, and no country can be against that. “I hope that that will have a positive impact on our relations.”
