At the session held by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy, the internal political situation in Armenia and the latest advancements were discussed, particularly the purge against free speech, unprecedented use and spreading of hate speech, criminal cases filed against the second president, former officials, and their family members, possible changes in the constitution to ensure that the prime minister can remain in his position, and pressure against legislators and court officials. I have presented facts, videos, and publications.
The contents of the recorded conversation between the heads of the NSS and the SIS were also discussed. The Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy decided, as a result of discussions surrounding the issue, to write a letter to the Monitoring committee suggesting that it carries out monitoring activities in Armenia to ensure the security of rights first and foremost, to ensure the freedom of legislators and court officials, and monitor political victimization.
