After the Velvet Revolution in Armenia, hats and t-shirts with Nikol Pashinyan’s face on them spread across the country like lightning. Pashinyan’s picture and “Dukhov” (be daring) became symbols of the revolution. When the National Security Service began making controversial discoveries about several people, the trust of Armenian society towards the NSS rose quickly. The NSS also became a symbol. Shirts and hats with “NSS” on them started selling in Vernissage, but there’s a question surrounding that- are private citizens allowed to wear those?
A secretly recorded phone call between the heads of the NSS and SIS was published, and doubts and fear rose among the people regarding the efficiency of the NSS’s work. The publishing of that recording was an attempt at making the NSS look bad.
The heads of the NSS and SIS announced that they have information and facts that there are some people trying to weaken and scared them so that they leave their work unfinished. This is not only regarding March 1st. The discoveries made by the heads of these organizations were counterattacks. Vanetsyan said a criminal case has been filed against Robert Kocharyan for money laundering. “We’re talking about several hundreds of millions of dollars.” The head of the SIS also made an important announcement about the March 1st case. “Internal Troops soldier Tigran Abgaryan was killed by special regiments.”
