Nikol Pashinyan: ‘Aliyev wants Karabakh without its people’

September 16,2018 17:36

“In my opinion, my visit to Javakhk, which was organized alongside Georgian authorities, was proof of the fact that Javakhk is not the place where Armenian and Georgian interests clash, but instead it’s a place for strategic partnership, friendship, and neighborly relations. That kind of relationship has been accepted by our Georgian colleagues and we are working together on building it,” said the Armenian prime minister.

Nikol Pashinyan, in regards to the Karabakh issue, said that Azerbaijan has announced that it wants Karabakh to be a part of Azerbaijan. On the other hand, it also says that it will not negotiate with Karabakh.

“So it wants Karabakh to be a part of Azerbaijan, but Aliyev doesn’t want to hold talks with Karabakh? What kind of logic is that? Imagine a country which completely refuses to come into contact with other countries. This means that the people of Karabakh are right when they say that Azerbaijan wants to commit genocide. Aliyev wants Karabakh without its people. If Aliyev really wanted Karabakh to be a part of Azerbaijan, then he would use every opportunity to negotiate. Therefore, he wants the land without its people,” said the prime minister, emphasizing that Karabakh cannot be a part of Azerbaijan.
