On 14 September, the EU Delegation to Armenia opened Armenia’s first inclusive and barrier-free bakery and coffee shop, in the town of Gyumri.
The new establishment will employ people with disabilities and become an example of a social enterprise that can serve as an example of inclusive, barrier-free employment.
“The ‘Aregak Bakery & Café’ is an excellent example of [a] social enterprise providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities and their families,” said EU Ambassador to Armenia Piotr Świtalski at the inauguration ceremony.
“We all as active society members should be vocal advocates for people with disabilities and for their full participation in the economy. We hope that Gyumri will pride itself in the future in being a fully inclusive model city in Armenia.”
